The last weekend of April (yes, I'm behind...) Chris and I set out to Anza Borrego to find wildflowers. Well, we didn't do enough research, and went to the wrong place. Anza Borrego was indeed in bloom, but it was what one might expect of a "desert wildflower bloom", much less than we expected. So, we explored. We found some neat riverbeds, a hidden cactus garden, and we did find, and photograph the wildflowers, of which there were many, you just had to look hard enough.
Of course while we were in the neighborhood, we stopped by the Julian Pie Company and picked up a few pies... Well, seven pies. :-)
And even though most of the trip was fairly easy going, one trail was very bumpy, and probably was the major contributing factor for the only mechanical carnage of the weekend: My exhaust pipe cracking off of it's flange to the exhaust manifold. It's a non-fatal break, but man did it make the truck loud!
All my good pictures from the tip are on the imageserver, and here are some of my favorites:
And here's the mechanical break of my exhaust pipe. Man, I hate working on exhaust components!:
