|President Barack Obama! -   2008/11/04||Viewed 62 times this month, last update: 2009/01/21|
As of 12:00PM, January 20th, 2009 Eastern Standard time, Barack Obama became President Barack Obama! Our eight-year nightmare is over. Today begins our rebirth as a nation of thinkers, creators, world citizens.|
Now we rebuild. The United States of America leads the world, and as we have lead the world down the wrong path over the last eight years (some would say the last 30 or more), the world has suffered. We are more than this. We are more, better than we have been. Obama is not the answer by himself, we are the answer, we always were. Obama will simply help pull the wool from our eyes, and help show us the way.
Update, 2009/01/21 Day 1: Issued requests to halt illegal military tribunal trials. Two judges have complied. This is a nation of laws. Nobody is above the law, and no one can strip basic human rights from another. This is step 1.
kindigulous (2008-11-04): i'll second that!
mayo-man (2008-11-04): Glad I could help.... :-)
Erik (2008-11-04): Thanks guys!
Greg (2008-11-27): You wanted him, you got'em. A no experienced Socialist loser, says change and brings back all the old Washington cronies.This guy is a joke!
Erik (2008-11-29): He's not inexperienced, he's been an state and federal senator, and a constitutional lawyer.
He's obviously not a loser, since he just WON the election!
And of course, bringing in a staff of people with experience does not preclude change. Do you think we can only achieve change with people who have never served in government before?
I continue to be awed by Barack Obama. He's done more to raise the spirit and intellectual level of this country in just the time since the election (and the months before) than W has in eight years.
dev (2009-03-09): I just have one thing to say.... Mr. Obama(bation!!) gave DVD'S!!!!! yes DVD's a gift you might give to someone you don't know to well)!!! to Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of Great Britain... ENGLAND AMERICA'S STRONGEST ALLY!!!! While Brown gives an ornamental pen holder constructed from the timbers of the anti-slavery ship HMS Gannet, once also named HMS President. OBAMANATION has no idea what he is doing! Even BUSH would know what is APPROPRIATE and WHAT IS NOT! The world is laughing at us and OBAMANATION is playing house with a mindset of a spoiled Liberal-still stuck in LA-LA-Land of a college student! Pathetic.
Erik (2009-03-27): A stupid gift to a visiting dignitary is conclusive proof of an absolute inability to be an effective president?
Personally, and I know this sounds WAYYYYY out there: I think being an effective president is more about communicating ideas, discussing policy with other law-makers, protecting the country, our values, and our intrests. It's probably more about making this whole world a better place to live... probably more about that, than the quality of exchanged gifts.
Blake (2010-02-10): You sir, seem to bring refreshment to all that is about you. Mr. Obama is just a guy, who has demonstrated a passion for coursing a route that may be difficult, but the destination is where we need to be. And for those who know the view and air that can only be had at the crest of that ridge, this President, this man, has already shown his kinship. -blake
