Whew, it's been a long time since I posted about something other than photography, or photography related stuff... This time, it has nothing (almost) to do with photography: I got a new computer! Mostly...
My desktop used to be based around an Intel Celeron 1.3 Ghz CPU with 512 MB or RAM. It did everything I needed it to do, except record and process TV shows while I work, or give me the horsepower to stich together panoramic pictures. (There's the photo tie-in.) So, I upgraded to a fancy new dual core Intel 805 D, 2x2.6 Ghz, with 2GB of RAM, and a fancy new motherboard with Firewire, SATA, gig ethernet and PCIe for video. It took some trial and error, since I'm kind of out of it when it comes to new PC technologies (DDR vs. DDR2?), but it's all working now: video, sound, network, USB 2 for fast picture downloads and MythTV!.
Now I can process images faster, which means more picture uploads, and I can finally reprocess and burn to DVD all those shows I've been recording!
