|I drink a lot of Dr. Pepper. I'd like to continue drinking it while I drive, especially on long desert trips. The problem is, there is little room for large drink containers in my truck and it just gets warm sooner or later anyway.|
What I need, and want, is something that can deliver to me cooled Dr. Pepper, in my car, without my needing to hold large, wet bottles, open lids, or deal with bubbles.
I guess what I want is a in-line cooler, and flow regulator. If I could hang a 2 liter bottle upside down in the back of my truck, attached to a hose, running to the front like a long straw, with some way to cool the liquid, and a very small, valved opening, that would do it.
Preaure is the hard part to deal with. I would need a preasure releif valve on the bottle connector, and some way to slowly deliver the liquid to my mouth, like a bite-valve with a small orifice. But a bite-valve like on the camel backbacks would never be able to hold the presure of the Dr. Pepper.
The other problem is cooling! I could keep the Dr. Pepper bottle in an electric fridge in the back, but it would be warm by the time it got to me. What I really need is some kind of in-line cooling, but nothing has the response time for that... Argh!
An idea just occured to me. What about a fountain?! I could keep a normal open-topped cup in the cupholder, and just have a push-button valve fill wand, with a small-diameter, insulated hose running to the bottle-in-fridge in the back! That really wouldn't be too hard to rig up. The only hard part would be in the valve, but I bet I could find something on the 'net. Hmmmm.. Sure would be nice. Maybe e-bay has one of the multi-drink fill wands...
Hahahahaha! Found it! A six-head drink dispenser wand! I'm so getting on Slashdot for this! I'm sorry, but having a drink dispenser like this, IN THE TRUCK is so cool, I can't stand it. I'm going to have to build a whole pump-station in the back. Carbonated drinks are easy, hang them upside down, and let the preasure send it down the tube. Water, and juices are harder. They'll need pumps of some sort, or maybe external preaurization... But those will come later. Hahaha! This is soooo cool.
On another note, someone please keep me off of e-bay at 3:00 in the morning.
I won the eBay auction for the drink dispenser! I give it three weeks before I have the first revision of the installation working.
I won a Coleman 32 quart thermoelectric cooler on eBay! More than enough space for a couple upside-down Dr. Pepper bottles, and some water. Tee Hee... Now I really need that solar pannel for the truck!
Matt Bell (2002-09-23): E-bay + no sleep = BAD! Just ask my brother, he has boxes show up on the front porch that he has no idea where they came from or why he might have ordered them... (Of course they usually have something at least somewhat cool inside)
Erik (2002-09-25): We'll see who's comming to who's truck for cold beverages on the next desert trip!
Your Dad (2002-09-25): It scares me that one of your pass time efforts is to see how much more conveniently you can ingest Dr. Pepper. Why don't you just do what I do with coffee. A continuous feed intervienously. (Is that a word?) That way you can talk and get a sweets high at the same time.
Erik (2002-09-25): Intraveniously would have to be the way to go, since Coffee tastes like DIRT! Besides, I couldn't do that, it wouldn't satisfy my phychological addiction.
TIM (2006-08-15): I WANT A DRINK WAND FOR MY BAR BUT CANT SEEM TO FIND ONE
Erik (2006-08-15): Tim, I found my wand on eBay. I sill haven't used it, but I'm not ready to part with it quite yet. Good luck!
FATSO (2009-09-22): DID YOU EVER FINISH THIS THING ??? ,,, IM ON THE SAME PROJECT ... WHATS THE DEAL ??? ... HOPE IT WORKED .. WHO IS THE DRINK WAND MANUFACTURE ??? THANKS FATSO
