Yesterday Vanessa and I went to the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary (29322 Modjeska Canyon Road, Modjeska Canyon, CA, (714) 649-2760), in Mojeska Canyon, near our house. It's a great little place, maintained by the Cal. State Fullerton University. There is an abundance of wildlife there, and if you sit still for just two minutes, they all come out, and come within a very short distance from you. I was there with my new Camera and Flash. I normally take sweeping landscape pictures, but since I got my new camera, and a 70-300mm bundled lens, I've been playing with nature photography. My favorite from the trip is this picture of a woodpecker:
There were of course, many other critters about, such as Quail, which I didn't get a good photograph of, since they wouldn't come out of the shadows, Squirrels:
Lots of Scrub Jays:
Hummingbirds and Finches:
We'll definitely go back, and I'll bring a tri or mono-pod to get those well hidden Quail. There are also some neat trails nearby, which look great for relaxation and exercise.
