| Day 1:
We landed in Dublin at about 10:00 in the morning, after a ten hour flight, and a full day of packing before that. Needless to say, we were all very tired. We hit a couple of pubs, and walked a bit, but I left the group to take a nap, Ernie went to work a bit, and then John headed back to the hotel for a nap too. While all us men were sleeping or working, I found out later that Vanessa was dragging Rachel all over looking for a gift for me! Eventually she found it, a flask with pewter shot glasses and celtic designs on it. Very nice! Since I was the first to go back to the hotel for a nap, I was the most energetic at night, but that gave me the energy to do some night photography!

Day 2:
On our second day in Dublin, after a long night's rest, we headed out to see the sights. First, the Temple Bar area, where there is tons of activity, street performers, and of course Pubs!

Second on the list was Christ Church, a beautiful, old church with great architecture, and history:

All the cathedrals in Ireland have beautiful, intricate stained-glass windows everywhere you look. Most are huge as well, ten feet tall and larger!

This very nice priest gave an annoucement while we were visiting, and blessed Vanessa and I as we said hi!

One of Christ Church's most interesting aspects is it's store of ancient artifacts and monuments. Most are stored and protected in it's basement level, but many busts and monuments are built into the walls of the cathedral hall.
|
Next up was St. Patrick's Cathedral, a short walk from Christ Church, and another beautiful place to visit:

After visiting St. Patrick's, we crossed through St. Steven's Green, kind of the central park of Dublin, to visit the Ireland Museum of Natural History, which was great. We got there only about an hour before closing, but one could easily spend a full day in this museum. The entire celtic history, and natural history of the region is displayed. Vanessa even got to see the one specific Viking pin she had read about. However, there were no photography allowed inside, so you'll have to visit it to see for yourself!

Of course, one of the things we'd all missed and anticipated most of all, is hanging out, and drinking in the pubs. In Dublin, there are more pubs than hotels, stores, or any other kind of business. Every couple of hundred feet, or less, is another pub, each more fun and inviting than the last!
