Last weekend Vanessa and I went up to Vanessa's Aunt and Uncle's cabin in Mammoth again. This was our first time there in the summer, and my first time there with my new camera. We planed to do a bunch of hiking, some off-roading and a lot of relaxing. We ended up doing a whole lot of hiking, some off-roading, and a lot of post-hike colapsing. I took over 500 pictures, the best of which are here. We did a four-hour hike to the north of Rock Creek Lake, a short hike to the east of Rock Creek Lake, and a two hour hike to the east, following Rock Creek. It was absolutely beautiful up there, smog-free, and a good time, with good friends. I rented a big 80-400mm lens to photograph birds and other critters, but ended up using my trusty 18-70 most of the time, and getting I think some good photos:
On the way home, we came uppon a family of Elk, hanging out in a field:
We also stopped by the "Trona Pinnacles" on the way home, just after sunset. Even Vanessa wants to go back, it was quite a magical place:
